Welcome to the Sibert's homepage. We live in Daleville, Virginia, a small community located on the easternmost edge of the Alleghany Mountains. Our home can be seen from the Appalachian Trail as it follows along the top of Tinker Mountain in Botetourt County, Virginia.

John's Baptism

John Calvin Sibert was baptised on Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. From left are grandparents Alan and Gwen Sibert, and John and Sharon Sigler, Daddy (Scott) holding big brother Nathan, Mommy (Melissa) holding John, and Aunt Deidra and Uncle Scott Peacock.

Alan

Gwen

Gwen retired on June 11, 2010 after 41 years as a classroom teacher. For the past twenty-two years she taught chemistry, AP chemistry, forensic science and environmental research at the Roanoke Valley Governor's School for Science and Technology, in Roanoke Virginia. She has put most of the material for these courses on the Virginia Tech chemistry webserver. Gwen was named as a Tandy Technology Teacher Scholar for 1998 and also was the recipient of the Virginia Association of Science Teachers (VAST) Award for Outstanding Teaching in Chemistry for 1998. She was the Virginia Blue Ridge Section of the American Chemical Society Chemistry Teacher of the Year in 1985, 1995, and again in 2008. She was selected as the Roanoke City Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 1996 and then named Virginia's Region VI Teacher of the Year for 1997. She became board certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in November 1999 and then successfully renewed the certification in the fall of 2009. Family

We will have been married for 49 years in January 2011, and have a son, Scott Alan and a daughter, Deidra Alice.

Scott

Scott is an Oracle DBA at Progress Rail Company in Boaz, Alabama. Like both Alan and Gwen, he is a graduate of Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama, with majors in computer science and mathematics. He married Melissa Sigler on April 18, 1998. Melissa graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in management after which she attended the Culinary Institute of America to become a pastry chef. She makes wonderful gourmet cakes, pies, cookies, and other delicious specialty desserts although she currently doesn't have much time to bake professionally as she is a stay-at-home mom to the two grandsons, Nathan and John.

Melissa is also an independent demonstrator with Stampin' Up!. You can see some of her stamp creations and read her blog at at stampinchick.blogspot.com.

Scott and Melissa have two sons, Nathan Scott a very handsome little boy, born on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, and John Calvin, born November 20, 2003.

Deidra

Deidra graduated from King College, in Bristol, TN with a degree in French in 1993. She works for Allscripts in Raleigh, North Carolina where she is a Senior Product Manager. She received her Executuive MBA from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 2007, and is a soprano with the North Carolina Master Chorale. Deidra married Scott Peacock on April 10, 1999. Scott, who graduated from Radford University with a degree in Business in 1995, owns Integral Builders, Inc. in Raleigh.

We have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America since we first moved to the Roanoke area. Alan was the teacher for the Dawn Bible Class for several years, and has been an Elder for many years, although he is currently not serving on the session.
